ZOMG WANT: Wolf Link and Midna statue
By Brett Elston, GamesRadar US posted 29 days 18 hours ago

Got $330 available in your "shit I really shouldn't buy" fund? You'd be wise to spend it on the latest offering from First 4 Figures - a one-quarter scale statue of Wolf Link and Midna from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Look at it! Midna's friggin hair glows!

Todays dose of "huh?" comes from Nintendo, which has suddenly decided to file a request with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the phrase "It's on like Donkey Kong." The phrase has been in the popular vernacular for several years, so why Nintendo would want to register it now is... oh wait, Donkey Kong Country Returns comes out this month. There you go.

King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is without question the best videogame film of all time. The documentary told the David and Goliath-level struggle over who holds the record for official highest score in Nintendo’s arcade classic Donkey Kong. Billy Mitchell, the mullet-wearing arcade master and the first person to ever “beat” Pac-Man, had held it for decades, but when challenger Steve Wiebe topped it, Billy’s friends at Twin Galaxies, the official high score keepers for all games, chose to not recognize his score. King of Kong followed Wiebe’s adventure to make that score official. In the years since filming ended the two have traded the top spot, with Billy regaining the high spot last month. But today Twin Galaxies verified Steve Wiebe’s submission, and he’s the King of Kong once more...

Like the socially inept guest who still hangs around your house even after you go to bed, Mario Party may have overstayed its welcome (Ed: actually, most of us never get invited in the first place, but you get the point). Signs are pointing to the possibility that the streamers are coming down, the confetti’s getting swept up, and the long-running series has reached its end...

In what must be the strangest turn of events for all games media, GamesRadar engaged in a futile display of shark-related coverage to coincide with the annual hysteria that surrounds The Discovery Channel's Shark Week. Turns out only SOME of you are in that oh-so-desireable crossover demographic, but those who stuck around were treated to the finest vaguely shark-related content the games press has ever (and will ever) see.
Relive the glory inside, we beg you.

If you've somehow never found yourself lost at Newgrounds for hours on end, here's a great reason to start - an endlessly looping video of three Links beatboxing on Tetra's pirate ship. For no reason. Never ask why things at Newgrounds exist. Simply enjoy them.
Link insi... oh wait. Three Links, one link inside.

A man's cat doesn't like it when he plays on his Nintendo. Here's a video capturing the cat in action. Do you know a cat that has an irrational hatred for video games? Tell us about it. Go on.

Last month we gave away a pair of will call tickets to Video Games Live, June 17th at the Nokia Theater in LA. Now we have three more pairs for you, which we'll be giving out over the next few weeks via Twitter. Details inside!
